Robert Luke, a “serial” entrepreneur, with over 38 years of hands-on experience building businesses, going businesses, start-ups and acquisitions. Robert is currently Managing Director for Strategic Global Marketing Group, a full service international marketing and sales company, managing the export business for U.S. based companies. Market coverage spans over 58 countries, including the U.S. Starting his business career in sales with Johnson & Johnson, he segued to marketing with the Clorox Company, where he worked in brand management before venturing out to become an entrepreneur, focusing on consumer packaged goods. His first foray into the entrepreneurial world was a start-up marketing and advertising firm in San Francisco, where his clients included the Coors Brewery, Fairmont Hotel Chain, Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), and Gramma’s Cookies, among others. Following the sale of this firm, Robert acquired an interest in the Famous Amos Chocolate Chip Cookie Company, which was sold 5 years later. He then was part of a start-up rice company, Pacific Rice Company, where they developed proprietary technology to flavor rice cakes. Following the sale of his interest in this company, Robert started a natural products company, which he sold 5 years later. He then joined as a partner in a hair care company, where he helped build for sale after 6 years, and sold to Schwarzkopf & Henkel, where he worked contractually for 4 years. Following this transaction, Robert started a global management company and continues to work in this capacity. Robert has a strong history of strategic marketing and brand building. He has a strong portfolio of accomplishments, including the launch of Coors Light Beer, and the development of the “Silver Bullet” campaign, launch of Grandma’s Cookies, owner of Famous Amos, development of Got2b Haircare, as well as a host of major branded consumer packaged goods. As CEO and a member of senior management, he has been a strategic planning and marketing expert that has helped navigate his businesses from start-up to and through acquisition. He has blended the skills of creative strategic thinking, coupled with the understanding of marketing, finance, sales and ultimately transactional exit strategies. In addition to serving on the board for Future Foundation of Sacramento, Robert has served on several Boards, including chairing the University of California Library Board, a Board member of Nuritas, a bioinformatics company, and served for three years as a Board Member of the San Francisco Produce Association Board. He is an armed forces veteran, serving 7 years in the United States Coast Guard. Educationally, Robert has a B.A. degree from University of California, Davis, a Master’s Degree for California State University, Hayward, and attended law school at the University of San Francisco.
